About two years ago, I had this cousin of mine who had D7 in English. He was able to get at least C6 in all the subjects except English. His dream school was Korle-Bu Nursing Training College. Unfortunately, the D in one of his core subjects shattered his dream.
While I was able to convince him to apply, he was not still sure of getting admitted. If you have a D7 in any of your subjects and are worried whether you can be able to gain admission into Korle-Bu Nursing school, you are not alone.
After thorough investigation, I decided to write this article to help people like my cousin who did not know whether or not D7 is accepted in Korle-Bu Nursing Training College.

At least C6 in three elective subjects relevant to the program, such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Arts subjects.
Is D7 Accepted in Korle-Bu Nursing Training College?
For core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, D7 is not accepted at Korle-Bu Nursing and Midwifery Training College. The college requires a minimum of C6 in these subjects to ensure students have a strong academic foundation for the demanding healthcare curriculum.
For most Nursing training schools in Ghana, D7 is generally accepted depending on the course or program. Most nursing training schools accept D7 for their certificate programs.
For instance, applicants with a D7 in their core subjects who wish to study at College of Health and Well-being, Kintampo are required to apply for Health Records and Field Technician courses or any other certificate program.
Also, Nursing institutions may also require applicants with a D7 in their core to apply for the Community Health, Nurse Assistant and other certificate programs.
However, if you have a D in your electives, you are qualified to apply for a Diploma program. Hope you have understood well what I am trying to communicate?
In order for Korle-Bu Nursing Training College to accept D7, you must have had at least C6 in three electives and three core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science).
So, this means that there is higher chance of being accepted into Korle-Bu Nursing Training College if you have D7 in one of your electives and at least C6 in the remaining three.
For Diploma programs in the college, students must have at least C6 in English Language, Mathematics and Science and at least C6 in other three elective subjects.
Let me demonstrate this clearly for you. Assuming you had the following grades in your WASSCE results,
English Language - C6
Core Mathematics - B3
Integrated Science - A1
Social Studies - A1
Chemistry - C4
Biology - A1
Elective Mathematics - B2
Physics - D7
When the institution is to calculate your grades, English Language, Mathematics and Science will be graded as the three core and Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics will also be graded as the three electives. In this case, you are qualified to apply for any program at the school.
But let's say you had D in Mathematics, you may not be qualified for any of the diploma courses. You will be required to apply for any of the certificate programs in the school.
So, is D7 accepted in Korle-Bu Nursing Training College? I would say yes, depending on which subject you had the D7 in. If it is a core subject, it is no, but if it is an elective, then I would say yes.
Korle-Bu Nursing Training College is one of the best and competitive nursing training schools in the country. Gaining admission into this school requires hard work and prayers.
If you have a D7 in your core subjects, it does not mean that is the end of the world. There are always many available options. You can apply to their certificate program or retake the WASSCE exams.
